The many corrections required in the first edition, as well as the addition of more than 5,000 Tardifs and 1,700 families, called for a totally revised edition of this publication, containing new contents and major changes to the numbering of the families. Although the majority of the new edition covers the descendants of Olivier Le Tardif and Barbe Aymard, attention is also given to the founding families of Jacques Tardif, Jean Tardif, Pierre-Auguste Tardif, Jean-Baptiste Tardy, Edouard Tardif and Nicolas Tardy who settled throughout Canada and the United States. More than 18,000 individuals and 10, 500 marriages have been recorded in this 378 page document.

When known, the following information is given for each person: For each individual the following information is given where available: the first name, the order of birth in the family, the generation, the year of birth, the year of death, the first name and surname of spouse, and the date and place of marriage. A simple numbering system allows you to go easily from one generation to the next, to complete rapidly an ancestral line, or to find all the members of a given family. This is an essential tool to genealogists and all those who want to research the history of their family.

The Dictionary is the result of over 25 years of research by Henri-P. and Jean-François Tardif, and over 15 years by Jacques, with the additional assistance of the many people who, by phone, e-mail or post mail, kindly provided us with copious information about their respective families.
